The CNN review, while taken with a grain of salt, is interesting. There is a comparison tool that shows the chosen statistics compiled for each town in relation to the top 10 list. So, Oakland readers can see how they rank against Lousiville, Colorado and Milton, Maine to name a couple.
The statistics being compared fall under Financial, Housing, Education, Qaulity of Life, Leisure & Culture, Weather, and Meet the Neighbors. The Neighbors section is geared towards who’s married, divorced, and educated — good if you are looking to move if dating is a major reason.
The Education categories have some interesting data which may raise some questions regarding what standardized testing is really accomplishing.
And the Financial section has costs related to insurance, income tax, and sales tax. there is no comparison of property taxes which would have most likely eliminated the entire state of NJ from the study.
