Groovy Ruby, the girl-band of Wyckoff, rocked some old fans and made some news ones in an evening concert for the Girl Scouts of America, especially the Daisy troops who came out to party. It was a night of dance, dance, dance as the performers belted out some new and some familiar songs. The backup band rocked under Dean Laterra’s leadership and compositions authored specifically for Ruby Groovy.
The upbeat songs that encourage listeners of any age to sing, sway, or really dance were a perfect match for the Daisy girls. The evening of fun was supplemented by having talented, personable young artists performing in an intimate setting. It’s opportunities like this where young hearts and minds can find a love for music, and the inspiration to follow a dream.
The event was held at Valley Middle School and made possible through the efforts of Girl Scout Troop 543 leaders, Lynda Alling and Dolores Goldberg as well as the girls in troop. A special thanks for bringing Groovy Ruby to Oakland. A great time was had by all in attendance.
