Oakland Natural Resource Inventory Map Preview

Last fall the Oakland Environmental Commission (OEC) began creating the Oakland Natural Resource Inventory (NRI).

On March 5, at 7:00pm at the Oakland Public Library, the OEC and Debbie Kratzer, our Environmental Consultant, will present the first draft of the geographic information system (GIS) maps for the project.

The maps contain information such as land use, soil, geology, water supply, floodplain and landscape. Following the presentation there will be an opportunity for questions and comments.

The Final NRI should be completed by November 2013 and will provide a comprehensive look at the borough’s natural resources, environmental features, and unique characteristics. On completion, the OEC will present the NRI to the Planning Board with recommendation for adoption into the Master Plan.

The NRI will be one of the primary reference documents used by the OEC and the Planning Board in reviewing future development plans. The NRI will also be an educational tool.

The Oakland Public Library is located at Two Municipal Plaza, Oakland, NJ 07436. The presentation will be held downstairs for 1 hour.
