A new report being discussed by the town council considers the need for adding a new position in Oakland, that of a salaried recreation director. The report being considered is available by clicking here.
The report details the expected cost of the new position, and the associated increase in fees designed to cover the additional expenditures. In brief, the town is estimating the cost of the new position to approximate $103,000 annually, not inclusive of start-up or residual costs.
The existing Recreation Commission takes exception to the arguments made in the report, and they detail a list of accomplishments achieved by the all volunteer administration. That information can be accessed by visiting the rec website and scrolling down. (http://www.eteamz.com/oaklandrecreation/)
It is expected that the town council will begin discussions at the November 10th meeting@ council chambers, 7:30pm.
