The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference has published an advisory to hikers visiting Harriman State Park — There’s a suspected killer hiding in the woods.
Eugene Palmer, a resident of Haverstaw, NY, fled into the woods on Monday evening after allegedly killing his daughter-in-law Tammy Palmer.
Authorities believe the 73 year old Palmer is armed with a shotgun and possibly a rifle.
Palmer is very familiar with the Harriman woods, and there is little doubt that he could survive weeks without attracting attention; but, he is reportedly a diabetic, and it is unknown at this point whether he has the medication with him.
Tammy Palmer, the victim, was estranged from Eugene Palmer’s son and had recently attained a restraining order against her husband.
