If anyone hasn’t visited the Oakland Recreation Complex recently, they are missing quite a local renaissance. Leading the way with donated valuable time, sweat energy, equipment, manpower and everything else has been the Potash family and their company James Construction.
Over the past three years Oakland’s Recreation Commission has completed an unprecedented fourth field renovation and we are presently working on our fifth. With each project, the Potash family has been overly generous with their selfless hometown altruism. We are proud to say that our recreation program is run by 100 percent volunteers, from our coaches to our snack stand workers and everyone else in between. Keeping with that same spirit the Potash family has led by example, donating their invaluable time and resources.
On Saturday, May 3, we will rededicate that very said fifth refurbished field, Field 6, named after Lorraine Murray, an equally invaluable resource to the Oakland community. All of Oakland is invited that day to share in the renaissance of our Recreation Complex and to give thanks to Oakland’s very own Potash family.

Very interesting website!
I used to play on those fields… and watch 4th of July Fireworks there, too. Nice to read about the work of the Potash family.
If you put up some nice pictures to go along with as many of the articles as possible, that would ideal. Folks who might consider moving to Oakland, folks who’ve left (like myself,) and even people in town or in the area, they’d be able to see what a great little place Oakland is!
I’ve been gone for over a decade now but this site I’ll check out regularly! Nice work so far!
