Ramapo Valley Baptist Church, 150 Franklin venue in Oakland, NJ, will be holding a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7:30pm. There will be special music featuring Violinist Tamara Freeman (a brief bio is below) under the direction of Christine Vella Lovette. The service will be presided over by Pastor Herb Dorfman. The Ramapo Valley Baptist Church invites all to attend.
Tamara R. Freeman, violinist and violist, received her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in music education, summa cum laude, from Rutgers University in January, 2007. Tamara’s dissertation is titled, “Using Holocaust Music to Encourage Racial Respect: An Interdisciplinary Curriculum for Grades K-12.” This is the country’s first Holocaust music curriculum guide. Tamara’s 1935 Josef Bausch viola is itself, a survivor of the Holocaust. Tamara presents Holocaust music lecture-recitals throughout the U.S. Since 1982, Tamara has enjoyed teaching instrumental music and conducting ensembles in the Ridgewood, NJ Public Schools. Tamara has also conducted numerous orchestral festivals throughout New Jersey, including two All-State Opera Festivals, several Regional Festivals, the orchestras at the Thurnauer schools of music and the Garden State Academy of Music. Tamara has been a proud and long-standing member of the Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. Tamara is now delighted to share her love of music with the Adelphi Symphony.
