November Special Events at the Oakland Public Library (Children’s Dept.)

librarypicThe Oakland Public Library will host “Truck Day” in the Library’s municipal parking lot on Saturday, November 14 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Oakland’s own Ambulance Squad, DPW, Fire Dept. and Police Dept. will bring vehicles to the event. This is an opportunity for an up-close-and-personal look at vehicles seen around our community. “Truck Day” is a family program and all ages are invited to attend. The celebration will take place rain or shine! No registration is necessary.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter, Teri Merliss, will present her special blend of imaginative stories, original songs, and audience participation on Friday, November 20 from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Oakland Public Library’s story gallery. Oakland children, ages 2 & up, are invited to attend with a parent or caregiver. Please register in person, online at http://oaklandnjlibrary.org or by calling 201-337-5236. “Tail Waggin’ Tutors” is an opportunity for Oakland children, ages 5 & up, to read to a very lovable dog. Daisy, and her “Mom”, Jean, will visit the Library on Tuesday, November 10 from 6:30 to 7:10 p.m. Sadie, and her “Mom”, Donna, will visit the Library on Thursday, November 12 from 5:30 to 6:10 p.m. Both Daisy and Sadie are registered therapy dogs with Therapy Dogs International. Each child will have about ten minutes to read a favorite story to a dog. The program will be held in the Library’s story gallery. November Book Discussion at the Oakland Public Library

The Oakland Public Library Book Group meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:45 p.m. at the Library. The next meeting will take place on November 12, 2015. Art Exhibit at the Oakland Public Library

Artist, Vi Shipley, will exhibit her paintings in the lower level gallery of the Oakland Public Library from November to the end of December. She enjoys using watercolors, acrylics, and mixed media in her abstract paintings. Her love of nature is reflected in her award winning work. Visit the Library and take a moment to appreciate these incredible creations.
