VMS History Teams Head to States

National History Day Winners!

After many hours of hard work, both of Oakland’s National History Day teams attended the NJ Regional Competition on Saturday, March 7th, and qualified to advance to the NJ State Competition. We are very proud of all of their efforts!

Oakland constructed two exhibits to illustrate this year’s theme of “Leadership & Legacy in History.” The 8th Grade Workshop exhibit, “Berry Gordy, Jr.: Producing the Sound of the American Soul,” was worked on by Daniel Apaza, Kira Cuneo, Luca Morgante, and Ryan Murphy. The Workshop PM exhibit entitled, “Walt Disney: Animator of Leaders,” was created by Grace Mendolia, Keidi Kyle, and Matthew Ritacco.

Please join us in congratulating these students on a job well done and wishing them luck as they head to States!
