It is the SAO’s privilege and pleasure to bestow this award to Mike Donovan and Kathy Fahey for all of their contributions. Thank you Mike Donovan and Kathy Fahey!

About the Hall of Fame Recipients

mikedonovanMike Donovan

Mike was one of many “unsung” coaches that Oakland is privileged to have in its Rec program. He assisted the basketball program as a coordinator, coached his 3 daughters in basketball and soccer, as well as both Girls and Boys travel basketball teams for many years. Mike’s also ran the Girls Basketball Winter Tournament which was a very popular event in North Jersey. He raised the necessary funds to kick off the tournament each year, and even took time off from work to manage the entire event to ensure its success.

Kathy Fahey

kathyfaheyKathy got involved in the Rec program like many parents, because her sons participated, specifically in roller hockey. Spending many long, chilly nights down at the Rec Field, Kathy figured she would put her time to more productive use and worked to get the food stand open and operating during the winter months, and making it a year-round service. For 7 years she managed the stand’s operations, schedule, staffing and supplies for countless (and grateful) families, parents and fans. Due to her efforts the stand became a steady fundraising source to provide donations to rec programs. Kathy was also a Mothers’ Club representative for the Sports Association of Oakland for several years. The Mothers’ Club holds fundraisers to benefit the children of Oakland through support of recreation and community programs.
