Public Access on FIOS 3

occlogoThe Oakland TV Committee would like to announce that beginning Wednesday, June 3, 2009 all Verizon FIOS customers will have access to view programming from Oakland, NJ’s public access channel. The FIOS channel will be 45.

I would like to thank the members of the Oakland TV Committee and Oakland Communications Commission, especially Fred Birks, for working with Verizon to make this programming available to Oakland’s FIOS community.

Thank you Communications Commission for getting this set-up. As Verizon Customers, we still want to feel more part of the community and know what is going on. Now, we can know about local issues and have our spot on the Local Programming as well as other towns.

As an update to my previous post, after trying a few times, the Oakland channel is not appearing on Channel 45 on FiOS, which I have. It says that if there is a problem or maybe if I do not have the channel to call Verizon. Does the commission and the company know about this?

    Ryan,

Yes they are aware. Apparently there is some technical issue on Verizon’s end which they are trying to resolve. Hopefully Verizon can fix this in short order so our residents with FIOS, like you, can get our local programming.
