Drug Awareness Program
Indian Hills High School Auditorium

Have you ever read the local police blotters that are published and said to yourself, “What’s with all the heroin arrests lately?” The reason is that heroin and prescription pain killer drug usage has reached epidemic proportions with teenagers. Oakland Police Chief Edward Kasper, Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox, and Franklin Lakes Police Chief Joseph Seltenrich, have teamed up together to present an eye opening drug awareness program to the parents of the three communities.
On November 19th, 2013, at 7:00 PM at Indian Hills High School in Oakland, the three police departments will host an informative program that will assist parents in understanding how severe this problem is within our communities. Parents will learn how their child can quickly become addicted to prescription pain killers, and then move on to heroin use because of the cost of the pills. The guest speaker will be a drug expert from the Bergen County Prosecutors Office. Parents will hear him say how teenagers that get addicted to these drugs will do ANYTHING to get drugs. When he says “ANYTHING”, he means it. While the situation is not unique to Franklin Lakes, Oakland, and Wyckoff, it’s here. Many of our children are addicted and parents need to know what to watch for to protect their children.
Don’t be a parent that puts their head in the sand and says, “Not my child”. Way too many parents of teenagers that are deeply into this program have said, “I never would have believed that my child would get messed up with this.” Locally we have had students with straight “A” grades and scholarships deal with addiction. IT IS DESTROYING LIVES!
Join us on November 19th to hear more and learn what every parents needs to know.
