It’s not the nationally broadcast Grammy Awards watched by millions on television, but the recent Grammy winners emerging out of Indian Hills and Ramapo High Schools may eventually reach the national spotlight.
The GRAMMY Foundation announced that 136 talented high school students from 116 cities and 32 states have been selected as participants in the eighth annual GRAMMY Camp program. Two of those selections hail from Wyckoff and Oakland.
Noah Jessup is a Wyckoff resident and Indian Hills student, familiar to many from his performances at local venues such as The Endless Vine and Blue Moon, and was selected to participation under the Songwriter category. Adam Dishian, an Oakland resident and Ramapo HS student was chosen to participate under the Marketing & Management category.
“GRAMMY Camp is one of our most immersive programs in terms of exposing young people to what it’s like to have an actual working career in the music business, and the opportunity to receive instruction directly from GRAMMY-winning artists and industry professionals instills knowledge, confidence and lasting lessons in students”, says Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The GRAMMY Foundation.
Applications for GRAMMY Camp 2013 are currently online at www.grammyintheschools.com and the deadline is March 31, 2013. Financial aid is available and approximately 75 percent of GRAMMY Camp participants who have applied for financial aid have received assistance.
