MARCH 22: While on patrol, Officer Luis Gaviria initiated a motor vehicle stop on Ramapo Valley Road for multiple equipment violations that resulted in the arrest of two adult males for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both a 19-year-old Oakland resident, and a 20-year-old resident of Bloomingdale were taken into custody, processed, and later released on their own recognizances.
MARCH 24: Officer Michael Catenacci investigated a walk in complaint regarding an Oakland resident being the victim of identity theft. The resident stated that she discovered her identity was compromised when she learned that someone already attempted to file a tax return in her name without her knowledge or consent. The incident was reported to the IRS by the victim. Report filed.
MARCH 24: Officer Stephen Broek investigated a walk in complaint regarding an Oakland resident being the victim of identity theft. The resident stated that he came to discover that his identity was compromised when his personal information was used to co-sign for a BMW in his name which was done without his knowledge or consent. The victim was notified by a financial institution that there was an outstanding balance due that he owed. Report filed.
MARCH 24: While working a security detail at the Oakland Motor Vehicle Office, Officer Bryan Rowin intervened with an irate patron who was acting disorderly and refused to calm down and/or leave the facility. Subsequently the 61-year-old male offender from Allendale, NJ was arrested, processed at headquarters, and later released on a summons to later appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
