policecarMARCH 30: Ptl. Bryan Rowin was dispatched to the Copper Tree Mall for a complaint of unruly juveniles. Two fifteen year old males from Oakland, and a seventeen year old male from Boonton, NJ was located. During the course of the investigation it was determined that the seventeen year old was listed as a Missing Person as well as a Wanted Person out of Morris County. The juvenile was taken into custody and later turned over to Detectives from the Morris County Sheriffs Department.

MARCH 31: While on patrol Ptl. Bryan Rowin initiated a motor vehicle of a suspicious vehicle on Thornton Rd that resulted in the arrest of a twenty-seven year old male occupant from Paterson, NJ for an active traffic warrant out of Clark, NJ. The offender was taken into custody and later released.

MARCH 31: Ptl. Joseph Noury and Ptl. Edward McDermott were dispatched to I-287 to investigate a complaint of a disabled vehicle where if appeared the occupants were engaging in drug activity. It was determined by the responding officers that no drug activity was taking place, however a twenty-three year old female from Butler, NJ was found to have been operating the vehicle with a suspended drivers license and had numerous active warrants for her arrest from multiple jurisdictions. Offender turned over to the NJSP for processing when a Trooper arrived on scene.

APRIL 1: Ptl. Thomas Pianettini began an investigation for a walk in complaint involving a theft of personal property at the Ramapo Lodge. The complainant stated that his landlord seized numerous items after a verbal altercation and refused to return the items. Matter was transferred to oncoming dayshift squad and Ptl. Joseph Noury responded to the motel to speak with the involved parties. After speaking with the two parties, the landlord agreed to return the property to his tenant and no arrest was made or criminal complaints signed as the victim was satisfied to have his belongings returned and did want to pursue the matter any further.

APRIL 1: Ptl. Bryan Rowin initiated a motor vehicle stop on Bauer Dr after recognizing a driver that was known to have active traffic warrants out of Toms River and Wall Twsp., NJ. The twenty-four year old Cedar Grove resident was taken into custody and later released after both warrants were satisfied.

APRIL 2: Det. Bart Pagerie investigated a Fraud complaint at the Columbia Bank. The Asst. Branch Manager stated that a male actor attempted to deposit a fraudulent or stolen check in the amount of $23,000 at their Paramus branch into a business account that was opened in Oakland by a female actor. At this time it appears that the account that was opened was done legally but an investigation is still on going concerning the attempted deposit in Paramus. Information gathered by Det. Pagerie to be forwarded to Paramus PD to assist with their investigation.

APRIL 2: Ptl. Donald Harvey assisted an Oakland resident who responded to headquarters to report being a victim of credit card fraud and identity theft. Report filed and advice given on how to combat any further problems with his compromised information.

APRIL 2: Ptl. Stephen Broek assisted an Oakland resident who responded to headquarters to report being a victim of computer fraud. The resident stated he did not realize a virus was on his computer and when he clicked on an icon for “Windows Security Service” he was erroneously told that his hard drive had many issues with it. Soon after he received a phone call from a supposed Microsoft representative that stated he could fix the hard drive at no cost but needed to have remote access to his computer to do so. The resident granted permission and the offender then proceeded to state that money would have to be paid to fix the problems and when the resident declined to do so the computer was locked and the resident no longer had access to his information. The offender hung up but called back later to see if any money would then be transacted which the victim still declined to do. Eventually the victim was able to regain control of his computer and is now backing up all of his information.
