On the Job – August 13, 2014


AUGUST 6:  At 6:07am, Officer Stephen Broek was dispatched to Ramapo Valley Rd in the area of Dogwood Dr to investigate a motor vehicle complaint of a possible intoxicated driver. Officer Broek located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop after observing multiple violations and signs of impairment.  The stop resulted in the arrest of a 66-year-old Mahwah, NJ resident for Driving Under the Influence with additional motor vehicle summonses being issued as well.  The male offender was processed and later released from custody to his wife with a court date set to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.

AUGUST 6:  Officer Stephen Broek investigated a walk in complaint regarding an Oakland resident being the victim of identity theft.  The resident stated that she discovered her identity was compromised when she initiated a credit report and saw that an account in her name from Dish Network was created without her knowledge or consent and was sent to a collection bureau.  Report filed.

heroinAUGUST 6:  While on patrol, Acting Sergeant Timothy Keenan initiated a motor vehicle stop on Page Dr for an equipment violation which resulted in the arrest of an Oradell, NJ resident for possession of illegal drug paraphernalia.  The illegal contraband consisted of hypodermic needles, multiple spent glassine heroin wrappers, and a spoon used to prepare heroin for injection.  The 22-year-old male was taken into custody, processed, and later released on his own recognizances with a court date set to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.

AUGUST 8:  Officer Joseph Noury investigated a walk in complaint regarding an Oakland resident being the victim of identity theft.  The resident stated that he discovered his identity was compromised when a collection agency contacted him regarding an over due balance from a Best Buy account that was opened in his name without his knowledge or consent.  Report filed.

AUGUST 9:  While on patrol, Officer Bryan Rowin initiated a motor vehicle stop on Ramapo Valley Road for an equipment violation which resulted in the arrest of a Randolph, NJ resident who had an active traffic warrant issued from the Rockaway Municipal Court.  The 22-year-old male offender who also had a suspended license, was taken into custody, processed, and later released on bail.
