On the Job – February 28, 2016


policepatchFEBRUARY 3:  A resident from Dacotah Avenue reported being a victim of credit card fraud after he discovered multiple unapproved transactions involving one of his accounts.  Officer Ryan O’Keefe handled the initial investigation.  Report taken and matter forwarded to the Detective Bureau.

FEBRUARY 9:  While on patrol, Officer Bryan Rowin initiated a traffic stop involving a speeding motorist on Rt 208 which resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old Ringwood, NJ resident for illegal possession of Suboxone and Marijuana.  The Suboxone was observed in plain view and the Marijuana was located after a search of the vehicle was conducted by Officer Rowin and Officer Luis Gaviria.  The male offender was taken into custody, processed, and later released on his own recognizances with a court date set to later appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.

FEBRUARY 10:  Det Edward McDermott investigated a complaint of Forgery at the Portobello Feasts restaurant.  The victim from New Milford, NJ reported paying a bill in cash but being charged the full amount also on her credit card which was illegally signed for without her knowledge or consent.  Matter still currently under investigation by the Detective Bureau.

FEBRUARY 10:  While on patrol, Officer Bryan Rowin initiated a motor vehicle stop on Ramapo Valley Road that resulted in the arrest of a Florham Park, NJ resident for an active traffic warrant issued from the Camden City Municipal Court.  The 66-year-old male was later released on his own recognizances by the Camden Metro Police Department.

FEBRUARY 14:  Officer Michael Catenacci investigated a theft complaint made by a resident of Franklin Lakes who was shopping at the Oakland Shop-Rite.  The victim reported that her iPhone valued at $500+ was removed from her purse while she was inside the store by an unknown party.  Report taken and matter forwarded to the Detective Bureau.

FEBRUARY 15:  While on patrol, Officer Bryan Rowin initiated a motor vehicle stop on Long Hill Road that resulted in the arrest of a Pompton Lakes, NJ resident for multiple active traffic warrants issued from the Garfield and Ringwood Municipal Courts.  The 39-year-old female was taken into custody, processed, and later released on bail that was posted on her behalf by an acquaintance.

FEBRUARY 18:  During the course of a motor vehicle stop for a parking violation on Monhegon Avenue, Officer Michael Griffin recognized a resident of Oakland who was seated as a passenger and who was known to have multiple active criminal warrants for his arrest issued by the Prospect Park, Fair Lawn, and Ridgewood Municipal Courts.  The 26-year-old offender was taken into custody, processed, and later released on bail.

FEBRUARY 26:  While on patrol Officer Michael Catenacci investigated a motor vehicle accident at Portobello Feasts which resulted in the arrest of a 54-year-old Wayne, NJ resident for Driving Under the Influence.  The female offender was processed and later released from custody to an acquaintance with a court date set to later appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
