On the Job – July 24, 2014


JULY 14: A resident of Park Dr reported a theft of prescription medication from her residence. Incident investigated by Officer Daniel Kern.

JULY 15: While on patrol Officer Luis Gaviria initiated a motor vehicle stop in the Walgreens parking lot for observed traffic offenses that resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old male resident of Wayne. The arrestee was charged with being in Possession of Marijuana and Marijuana Paraphernalia. Multiple motor vehicle summonses were issued and the suspect was released on his own recognizances with a court date set to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.

JULY 15: Sgt Keith Sanzari began an investigation regarding a stolen credit card and a Theft by Deception complaint that was brought to his attention by the Ramsey Police Department. Ramsey PD reported they had a suspect in custody that was caught committing an attempted fraud at one of their places of business, and while in custody made statements that he also did the same in Oakland and Wyckoff earlier in the day as well. Matter to be referred to the Oakland Detective Bureau with criminal charges pending.

JULY 15: While on patrol, Officer Bryan Rowin observed a 32-year-old resident of Oakland who was known to have an active warrant for his arrest issued out of Prospect Park, NJ. The offender was taken into custody, processed, and later released on bail that was posted by a family member on his behalf.

greendotJULY 16: Officers Thomas Pianettini and Joseph Noury investigated separate complaints involving a phone scam which resulted in residents losing a considerable amount of money. Both incidents were similar where the offender demanded money be paid for a bogus offense involving the victim or their family, and that money be dispersed by purchasing pre-loaded Green Dot Money Pak debit cards where the serial numbers were given to the offender which enables him/her to make a cash withdrawal. As a public service reminder to our residents, this type of activity has been ongoing throughout the entire country and is a scam. Demand written proof if you feel that there are accurate claims being made or otherwise inform the individual that you will be filing a complaint with your local police department.

JULY 16: While on patrol, Officer Bryan Rowin located an Oakland resident that was known to be a wanted person by the Bergen County Sheriffs Department walking along Ramapo Valley Rd. The 43-year-old male was taken into custody, processed, and later released into the custody of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department for final disposition.

JULY 19: Officers Gary Gusterson and Stephen Broek investigated a complaint of dirtbike riders on the Height’s School athletic field which resulted in locating three juvenile male offenders. During the investigation Officer Gusterson located marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the possession of one of the males. Juvenile Delinquency complaints to be issued by the Oakland Police Department’s Juvenile Detective. All three minors returned to their parents.
