upsidedowndflagMay 21, 2016 – As a result of numerous complaints involving the American flag being displayed upside down at various locations throughout the Borough in the recent past, Ptl. Catenacci conducted surveillance of the flag displayed in Bush Plaza. At approximately 8:30 p.m. the officer observed the flag being lowered and approached to find a 49 year old male, Oakland resident unclipping the flag and turning it upside down. The man was arrested and transported to HQ where he was charged with desecration of a venerated object and harassment. He was processed and released ROR and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.

June 12, 2016 – As a result of the investigation into a suspiciously parked vehicle on Ryerson Ave, Det. Piercy and Ptl. Griffin arrested an 18 year old Franklin Lakes resident and an 18 year old Oakland resident for the possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both men were transported to HQ, processed and later released on their own recognizance. They are scheduled to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.

June 13, 2016 – As a result of a concerned citizen’s complaint regarding possible underage drinking near the railroad tracks on Oak Street, Ptl. Harvey and Ptl. Noury apprehended two juvenile male Oakland residents in the wooded area adjacent to the tracks. Although no alcohol was located, the officers’ investigation revealed that the juveniles were in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both juveniles were transported to HQ and turned over to their respective parents/guardians. Juvenile complaints are pending by Det. Piercy.
