On the Job – November 21


polarisOn November 16, 2012 at approximately 2:00 a.m., Ptl. O’Neill and Ptl. Kern responded to a Wenonah Avenue residence on the report of a recently stolen ATV. The resident reported observing a pickup truck and trailer outside of his home and discovering that one of his three ATV’s was missing from his back patio, and another was found positioned in front of his house in the roadway.  Upon arrival of the officers’, the truck and trailer had since left the area and was unable to be located. The stolen ATV is described as a 2010 Polaris Sportsman 500 and is valued at several thousand dollars.  The matter remains under investigation by the detective bureau.

On November 17, 2012 Ptl. O’Neill conducted a motor vehicle stop on Long Hill Road after observing the vehicle being operated in an erratic manner.  The driver, a 67 year old female Elizabeth , NJ resident was subsequently arrested for operating her vehicle under the influence.  She was transported to headquarters and evaluated further by Ptl. Keenan, a certified drug recognition expert.  Ptl. Keenan’s examination revealed that the driver was under the influence of numerous prescription drugs.  She was charged with D.W.I., driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving an unregistered vehicle, reckless driving and littering; for throwing a lit cigarette from her vehicle.  She was later released to a friend and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
