SAO Art Show at the Library

The Emerging Artists and Color and Design classes from the Sports Association of Oakland’s fall classes had their Art Show Opening at the library. The classes were held in the VMS Art Room. The show will be up until the end of the year.

Daisy Troop #96391 from Manito School came to the show and asked the artists about their work. Over 70 people came to the opening. The artists definitely enjoyed the spotlight.

Emerging Artists was taught by artist and Professor Tracy DiTolla for 8-11 years olds. Each week a new piece of artwork was created and the students learned about different artistic media such as collage, painting, drawing, etc..  Along with each project they discussed famous artists throughout history that used the style or medium.

Color and Design was taught by Pam Leggate for grades 1-3. The students learned about design which is the composition of line, shape, and color and used these elements by using various media. They explored color by using light, medium, and dark values in their designs. The media they used were printmaking, cut paper, crayon, colored pencil, and watercolor.

Here are a few photos from the opening.
