THE CHILDREN’S THERAPY CENTER COMING TO OAKLAND

THE CHILDREN’S THERAPY CENTER COMPLETES DAVID F. BOLGER CHALLENGE FOR $5M – BEGINS WORK ON NEW CAMPUS IN OAKLAND

childrenstherapylogoOAKLAND, NJ – The Children’s Therapy Center (CTC) is a state approved, not-for-profit private school with locations in Fair Lawn and Midland Park, NJ, that has provided educational and therapeutic services for children with multiple disabilities for over 60 years.

The Board of Directors and staff of The Children’s Therapy Center are proud to announce the completion of the challenge set forth by David F. Bolger and The Bolger Foundation. Bolger challenged the CTC to raise $2.5M which the foundation would match 2:1, thus providing the funds to purchase Oakland property and begin renovation and addition work to create a new, state-of-the-art campus. The new campus will take the place of the CTC’s current Midland Park Campus as well as expand programs and services by providing the capacity to serve children through age 21. The anticipated timeline to open the new campus is September, 2016. The plans include 14 classrooms, a hydrotherapy center, vocational training center, visual performing arts center, a fitness center, multiple adaptive playgrounds as well as Occupational, Speech and Physical therapy centers. Enrollment will increase and the new facility, complete with pulleys, lifts and wide hallways will allow our students (middle school and high school), the room to learn, grow and develop in a light, bright and cheerful environment.

The CTC was so proud to raise over $380K towards this important challenge at the recently held, 22nd Annual Gala Dinner Dance And Auction, “Hero.” Highlights of the event, at The Venetian in Garfield, NJ, included a live auction to raise monies to underwrite the Hydrotherapy Center at a cost of $100K. This goal was surpassed in under 15 minutes!

Thanks to the dedication of David F. Bolger, The Bolger Foundation, the CTC Board of Directors and donors, we were able to raise $7.5M toward this important $13M project. J.T. Bolger, The Bolger Foundation, said, “The Children’s Therapy Center has held a special place in my dad’s heart for years. After speaking with CTC parents and understanding the need for expansion, he led the way to Midland Park. After seeing what was possible there, and the work they were doing – the next logical step was the high school. We are proud to be a driving force for an organization that is doing so much for these children and their families.”

From a one room walk-up to an organization exiting on two campuses – Fair Lawn and Midland Park (soon to be at 125 Bauer Drive in Oakland), The Children’s Therapy Center is proud to be serving children ages 18 months through 21 years of age while lending support to their families. CTC Parent, Pam Giacchi, “I’m proud to say that I was one of three parents who initially talked to Mr. Bolger about expansion. I’m even more proud to say that I look forward to my son, Anthony, attending the CTC through age 21. It is a wonderful program – for our entire family.”

Special thanks to philanthropist David Bolger for having the vision to realize this dream and for challenging the CTC to achieve it.
