On Jan 14, 2012, Oakland’s Valley Middle School once again topped the charts in the Future City Competition winning the New Jersey region and earning a trip to Washington, DC to compete in the nationals next month.
Oakland students started their research in September, authored essays, and designed their future cities using the computer software, they then must build a model of a part of their city.
At the regional competition held at Rutgers University, they present and explain their project.
The grand prize for the national winners is the chance to attend space camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala.
