An Oakland home was destroyed by fire, Thursday April 21st. The Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, with mutual aid from neighboring towns, fought the blaze which eventually consumed the home located in the Ramapo River Reserve.
No lives were lost, and volunteer firefighters contained the blaze and protected neighboring homes situated only feet away.
Residents on social media platforms such as Facebook & Twitter were commenting on the tragedy soon after it occurred, with some reporting having seen it from over a mile away.

Great job done by all the volunteers fire fighters and first aid squad members from Oakland and the neighboring towns. The loss of one house is always a tragedy and it’s the hard work by the volunteer firefighters who kept the tragedy confined to just the one home. Job well done!
