Political Pandemonium

bergen_county_fightThe sport known as “extreme fighting” is being explored as a new avenue for revenue for the Bergen County government, and officials are hoping it may lead to a budget surplus.

Dramatized in the accompanying photo, plans for Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan to meet Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino in a caged fight are in the works.

The two former running mates have bickered in public, most recently over the recently released Report-On-The-Report concerning the consolidation of the Bergen County Police and the Bergen County Sheriff departments, but financial pressures may lead to more.

The 2012 Report-On-The-Report  was a 35 page report reporting on a previous report from 2010. The 2010 report was an extensive analysis, at the cost of $600,000, that suggested the consolidation of the BCP & the BCS into the BBCCPS. Saudino has made claims that the Report-On-The-Report was just a report to protect the County Police department.

Both Saudino and Bergen County Prosecutor Mollinelli claimed that they were never given a preview of the Report-On-The-Report, and had to download it from the county website — like commoners. This prevented Mollinelli from commenting on the substance of the Report-On-The-Report.

The recent public bickering, posted on various NJ news sites, inspired a call from the Hackensack law firm of Dewey, Cheetham, & Howe, who has proposed the extreme fight match between Saudino and Donovan. They foresee a 3 match series that could easily bring in millions.

Discussions are underway to find a venue big enough in Bergen County, and holding the event at the Meadowlands is a serious consideration if the projected number of tickets are sold.

The Report-On-The-Report, while disagreeing with the original report on consolidating the BCP & the BCS, ironically did agree that there was too much redundancy in some areas.
