The Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow is accepting entries to the 2012 competition through the end of June, and the actual film must be submitted by October 1st, 2012.
Last year, IHHS student Kevin Cheetham took thrid place in the competition with his short film narrated by a pumpkin about to be carved. The Journal, being hyperlocal, might be a bit partial to last year’s homegrown entry, but readers can view both the IHHS entry and the first place entry at the end of this post.
The film industry, like the music industry and news industry, continues to adapt to the revolutionary changes in technology and communication that have been ongoing for decades. The introduction of cable and satelitte TV movie channels shortened the theatrical release of movies as the industry found new revenue sources in pay-per-view and on-demand services.
The film and television industry has started easing into a medium which was wholly dominated by amateurs just several years ago. Film and television star Kiefer Sutherland has signed on to do an Internet only “TV” series – The Confession; while many Internet only productions continue to strive for that plum contract of moving from online-only to television….Definitely an industry in flux and ripe for opportunity.
Students in Franklin Lakes, Oakland and Wyckoff interested in The Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow contest must submit their entry form by June 30th, and the completed film project by October 1st.
