Lenape Grill Opens 1

John and James Nissirios, a father and son team have brought to Oakland the Lenape Valley Grill – Pancake and Waffle Factory. But don’t let the name fool you. They serve 3 meals a day offering a wide variety of dining options. The Nassirios’ are also the owners of the renowned State Line Diner on Route 17 on the Mahwah/NY State border.

The name Lenape is attributed to the Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe from whom the first Dutch settlers bought the land 300 years ago.

The Lenape Valley Grill is located at 176 Rmapo Valley Road. The hours of operation are 6:30am till 9:30pm.

The owners of Lenape Grill are not nice people. I’ve heard about the way they’ve treated customers and their employees. We ate there because my daughter worked there. My daughter, a senior at Indian Hills High School, was fired last week because Jim Nissirios felt she should have worked instead of taking the week off to study for her state board exams. The week she asked off was May 11th. Jim, in particular, is a tyrant, as I’ve heard is without people skills and quite unorganized as my daughter arranged for the time off a month ago and had to remind the management on Tuesday, May 12th. But, when they heard she went to the health, that during her week off, Jim felt she should be studying, no time for a break. No more working at Lenape Grill. Just had to call her the next morning to give her the punishing word.

Lesson learned… that’s why your going to school to better yourself.

I know enough people who I’ve shared this story, and they won’t be dining there anymore. I hope the word gets around as I will be writing more letters of complaints. I figure I’ll cost them enough business to further affect their business downtrend vs. last year. Treat them a lesson. Don’t eat there anymore.

    A very disappointed father.
