MARCH 4: Officer Keith Docwra investigated a walk in complaint from an Oakland resident who reported being the victim of online fraud. The victim purchased a used X-Box off of Ebay for $340 and when the item arrived in the mail he came to discover it only contained books and packing paper. Fraud cases opened with Ebay and PayPal. Report taken and forwarded to the detective bureau for follow up.
MARCH 4: Officer Michael Catenacci investigated a walk in complaint regarding an Oakland resident being the victim of identity theft. The resident stated that he discovered his identity was compromised when he learned that someone already filed a tax return in his name without his knowledge or consent. The incident was reported to the IRS by the victim. Report filed.
MARCH 7: While on patrol, Officer Bryan Rowin initiated a motor vehicle stop along Ramapo Valley Road by Glen Gray Road which resulted in the arrest of a West New York, NJ resident for multiple active criminal warrants issued by the North Bergen and Union City Municipal Courts. The 60-year-old male was taken into custody, processed, and later released on his own recognizances. The offender was also found to be driving without a valid license, without motor vehicle insurance, and having an expired immigration visa.
MARCH 8: While on patrol, Officer Bryan Rowin observed a 34-year-old Pompton Lakes resident seated in a motor vehicle that was known to have multiple active criminal warrants issued out of North Bergen and Paterson, NJ. A motor vehicle stop was initiated and the offender was taken into custody, processed, and later released on bail.
How about OPD publishing the number of speeding tickets issued on local roads? It’s a major issue and needs addressing.
