Rally for the VAH

Let’s rally for Ramapough Conservancy, Inc.

cynthia_forster__louis_degeronimo__and_judith_sullivan_august_19_oaklandWe are raising the matching funds needed for the replacement of the roof of the Van Allen House in Oakland New Jersey. The Van Allen House is the site of George Washington’s headquarters in the late 1700’s, on one of the oldest roads in the nation, and also the former county seat for Bergen County as the British had burnt down our county building in Hackensack. We are aiming to go forward immediately with our county matching grant to replace the roof on the Van Allen House with copper and cedar shake, rebuild the missing window dormers over the front door, and rebuild the missing porch over the front door. We will be pushing back the wrongly extended roof over the patio to the right of the front door a bit (and eventually rebuilding the missing windows on that sid e of porch.) We also will be removing the orange fence, and cleaning up some of the vegetation around the area. This is a 75%/25% matching grant of $225,000.00 so we need your donations! Please send to Ramapough Conservancy, P.O. Box 2025, Oakland, NJ 07436, or, to our fiscal agent, The Land Conservancy of NJ at 19 Boonton Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005. Thank you for your support – this intersection is going to be magnificent for Oakland and the Ramapo Mountains.
